At Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of one of our own — Sara, a first-year student who is already making waves in the world of student enterprise.
Sara has been selected to represent Waterford at the Junior Student Enterprise Awards in Mullingar on May 7th, where she will compete against 31 of the best young entrepreneurs in the country for the prestigious title of Junior Entrepreneur of the Year.
Her business, Sweeteners, is a vibrant and growing baked goods venture that has quickly gained popularity both within our school community and beyond. What began as a school-based enterprise has expanded impressively — with Sara now supplying her delicious treats to local businesses in Waterford for resale. This is no small achievement and reflects her creativity, commitment, and strong business instinct
Sara’s journey captures exactly what the Student Enterprise Programme is all about — innovation, resilience, and learning by doing. She has demonstrated not only excellent baking skills, but also an ability to identify opportunities, build relationships with local businesses, and grow her brand beyond the classroom.
As she prepares to take the national stage in Mullingar, we wish Sara the very best of luck. No matter the outcome, she has already achieved something truly remarkable — and we have no doubt that this is just the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey.
