School Completion

Our partnership with the School Completion Programme (SCP) is an important part of the supports available to students at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School. The School Completion Programme works closely with our students, families and school staff to promote attendance, participation and engagement in education. Through a range of targeted initiatives, SCP supports students both academically and personally, helping them to remain connected with school and progress successfully through their education. As part of our work with the School Completion Programme, students have access to a number of valuable initiatives, including our Homework Club and Third-Year Study Skills Programme.

Homework Club

Our Homework Club is provided through our partnership with the School Completion Programme and offers students a welcoming and supportive environment in which to complete homework and schoolwork. The club provides students with dedicated time and space to complete their work, while also encouraging good organisational skills, positive homework routines and greater independence in learning. Students can access support and guidance when needed, helping them to build confidence in their own abilities and stay on track with their schoolwork.

Third-Year Study Skills Programme

Through the School Completion Programme, our third-year students also participate in dedicated Study Skills sessions as they prepare for their Junior Cycle examinations. The programme focuses on practical and achievable strategies that students can use both in school and at home. Students explore areas such as organising their workload, creating realistic study plans, effective revision techniques, note-taking, preparing for assessments, time management and developing positive study routines. A key focus of the programme is helping students recognise that effective study is not simply about spending more time studying. Instead, students are encouraged to discover the strategies that work best for them and to develop greater independence and confidence in their learning. These skills support students not only in preparing for their Junior Cycle examinations, but also in developing positive learning habits that they can carry with them into Senior Cycle and beyond.
